With one exception.

Once you’ve set up an account for one domain, you cant add any other site from the same IP address. If you have 10 sites at the same IP address, you can open one Dirlinks account and link to all 10 sites. (I think.)

So my advice is just add one site and check to see if it’s accepted – rather than set up all ten and find that one or more of them is not accepted. But which one? Easiest way to find out is to add ‘em one at a time.

UPDATE:

Make that two exceptions.

I’m hoping Jonathan Leger will read this. Firstly, thanks Jonathan for the service – and the price is very nice.

But there is another annoying feature that you may not be aware of.

Once the user (me in this case) thinks his/her site is set up correctly including the link from the home page to the new folder for the dirlinks pages, then he clicks the button to have Dirlinks verify the setup. BUT if for some reason dirlinks doesnt find the link on your home page, it gives you a red alert message.

Trouble is… the link WAS visible on my home page as I view the internet from here in Australia. Just in case Australian internet was updated faster than Jonathan’s server, I used the proxy service at hidemyprivacy.com to view my site as if I was in America — yep, the link from my home page to the dirlinks directory was even visible in the US.

So once again I clicked the “Verify and submit your site” button.

And once again, I get the error message:

“Your form submission contained the following errors:

1. A link from your site’s home page to the directory folder (/dirlinx/) was not found.

Please click the BACK button of your browser and correct these errors before continuing.”

Well, I did that a half a dozen times. Still the same… going nowhere.

Next I had the bright idea of changing the name of the dirlinks folder. Did that at my site. Made the change at the dirlinks site. Uploaded the 2 new files that dirlinks generated. Changed the link on my home page. Double checked that the new link was visible at my site. Then clicked the verify button… and got the same red error message.

Conclusion – I’m stuck.

So I looked for the Contact link to ask somebody back at base to take a look at this. Nope, there is NO contact link. Hmmm.

My next bright idea is to share my misfortunes with my readers – and hope that some kind reader will alert JL to this.

Final bright idea is to search Google for how to contact JL… and I found http://www.askjonleger.com where I can submit a support ticket… which is what I will do as soon as this update is published.

Now dont let all the above put you off Dirlinks.net because you probably wont have this problem. I was trying to do something a little different on that page.
