How to promote your business

Here are a few promotional strategies that work -- especially when you DONT have a WEBSITE of your own.

Find the one or two that feel easiest to you and get started. Dont worry about making a few mistakes as you go. You will -- we all did -- it doesnt matter.

1. Write about how it helped you

One great way to get people excited about buying the ebook or course that you are promoting is to write a review explaining how helpful it is. Explain in simple terms how it helped you. Make sure you include your affiliate link at the bottom with a few words to encourage or entice them to click on your link. And then post it to sites like EzineArticles and GoArticles.

Here is a list of online article directories where you can post your articles/reviews (well, some of them -- the list is rather long).

If you think you couldn't write to save yourself, check this out. It's called the lazy man's guide to writing articles and shows you a simple system where the work of researching and writing is reduced to a very do-able minimum.

If you're not that great on spelling, run your article or report through a spell checker. Your computer probably has one!

2. Go blogging

Another good idea is to make a FREE blog at Blogger.com. Post your review or article on the blog with your affiliate link. After that, "ping" your blog at Pingomatic.com and the search engines will pick up your new blog site. Write something every 2-3 days, I'd suggest.

The great thing about blogging is... it's very informal. Write like you talk. Forget your English teacher. No need to worry about perfect sentences or stuff like that. Just imagine your buddy is interested. Now what would you tell him? -- then write it down and post it to your blog.

How to include a clickable link in your posts

You dont have to know much about HTML (which is the name of the code language that computers read that tells them how to display a webpage on people's computer screens).

Here is a fragment of code:

<a href="http://scambeater.com" target="_blank">ScamBeater -- the BEST protection for your investment funds</a>

That bit of code looks like this when it's copied into the code of a web page and displayed in somebody's browser:

ScamBeater -- the BEST protection for your investment funds

Okay, let's take it apart...

<a href="http://scambeater.com" target="_blank">ScamBeater -- the BEST protection for your investment funds</a>

Now, simply replace the red bit with the full address of the website you want them to go to when they click the link. And replace the green bit with the words you want them to click on. And you'll have a clickable link saying whatever YOU want it to say -- and when they click on it, it will take them to YOUR site.

By the way, the target="_blank" bit simply tells their computer to open the new web page in a new blank window. I always like to include that so that folks dont click AWAY FROM my site when they click but you can remove it if you like... for example, if they are going to another page at your site.

3. Join forums

Here's a list of internet marketing forums. Join one, or several of them. Read for a while so you get the idea of how they work. Then start posting. Either ask questions, or add a comment into a discussion.

Include your link in your forum signature (find the 'Edit your profile' section to insert or change your signature). Every time you post a reply or thread, your affiliate link or banner will automatically get posted, resulting in many different people clicking on your link and some of them will buy.

4. Press releases

Sounds a bit scary, doesnt it? Well, read a handful of press releases at PRweb.com and you'll see it's not that bad. Find one you like, copy it and use it as a template for your own press releases.

Every few weeks, post a slightly different press release where you comment on your product. Most PR sites are free.
