Commission rates are rising.
Not long ago, 50% was good.
Then various marketers, looking for an edge
to attract more affiliates, started to raise
the payout rates for their downloadable products.
We saw 65% ... 75% ... 80%.
Now some are paying ONE HUNDRED PER CENT.
That's right. There is a growing body of
digital products (I'll give you a short list
in a moment...) that pay 100% instant affiliate
commissions.
Not at the end of the month or by the 15th
of next month, but instantly via PayPal. That's
why we call them "instant affiliate commissions".
This raises an obvious question:
WHY DO THEY DO THIS?
There are two reasons -- and they both have
to do with the marketer making more money.
How?
1) The marketer builds his mailing
list. Each time any affiliate of his
makes a sale, the affiliate gets the cash
- but the marketer builds his list and will
earn from his subscribers for a long time.
2) The marketer also profits from one-time
offers which are presented to the
buyer when he/she arrives at the download
site.

"The first reason I offer 100pc
commissions is that it encourages people
to promote the product and it helps
build my list, a list of nothing but
buyers!
Second - the one time offers convert
at approximately 20pc so that gives
me some backend income.
It's really a great marketing strategy
that I'll be using more."

The first page the buyer sees after making
his payment is a highly attractive second
sales page which he will see only once.
The combination of a zero-profit first sale
and a high-profit one time offer (OTO) is
highly attractive to marketers who find themselves
with a growing body of keen affiliates, many
of whom are actively promoting so they make
money for themselves. In the process they
are also making money for the marketer who
organized the whole thing in the first place.
Incidentally, the per-sale income from the
OTO is higher in most cases than the amount
earned by the affiliate.
Yet the affiliate does not lose either because
the affiliate can sell the digital product
many times over, and by doing so he/she can
make a profit that is many times their original
spend. In one recent promotion, I turned an
initial spend of $13.97 into a profit of $586.77
in about one week.
Vastly bigger results than that are also
attainable - depending on the size and responsiveness
of your mailing list.
The affiliate's first sale covers his costs,
apart from PayPal fees and they are small.
From there on, it's all profit. Of course,
if the affiliate chooses to pay for advertising
to promote this offer -- for example, pay
per click advertising or a solo ad to several
newsletters, these costs reduce that profit
figure.
