The traffic will come at a much slower rate but they have much higher quality and possible conversions. Long tail keywords have way lower competition, it is so much easier to target and always bring in nice traffic. To find many of those long tail keywords it's nice to buy a good keyword research software. In my experience, visitors who come to a site through long tail keywords are genuinely more likely to convert into possible buyers.
