Just because your business is online doesn’t mean you don’t have to do all you can for customer satisfaction. Actually, this may mean that your customer service skills are even more important because it is your point of contact with your customers. Most people get started with online marketing because it seems so simple to run an almost automated system, so you should make it a point to offer spectacular customer service so you can stand out from the crows. When you provide this for them, you will have someone who will continue to come back to you.

It’s important to respond promptly when a customer asks you a question or makes a comment. Try to get back to them within one business day if you can. And when we talk about responding, we mean a personalized response that comes straight from you. Sending out messages generated by an automated system are not really responses at all. Think about it: if you had an offline business, would you leave a client sitting on hold for a week before you picked up the phone to talk to them? It’s not likely!

Offer your clients and customers information for free every once in a while. Instead of only sending out sales pitches to the people on your list, send out newsletters every once in a while as well. If you gain a reputation for only trying to sell to them, your e-mails are more likely to be deleted without being opened. If you show a willingness to give them value for nothing in return, they will start receiving your emails more willingly, though. You can also please your following by sending them updates on what other projects you know of that people are doing. This will demonstrate to your customers that you care about the niche you are in as much as yourself, and they will be happy to see this.

Good customer service is smart business. Check with other internet marketers to see what kind of customer service they offer. You will notice the ones who are more successful offer better customer service to their customers, and they are raking in the money. The fact is that your customers are real people. You can’t see them as just accounts that pay you money. If you treat these customers as friends and not as money, they will come back to you over and over again.
