In essence, an SEO copywriter will take an already original bit of writing and then they will make minute alterations that will allow the search engines to find it easier. SEO copywriting consists of inserting “hot” keywords into ordinary content. It’s not about taking your content and just shoving a bunch of keywords and phrases into it in order to get a higher ranking. Google, Bing, Yahoo! and most other major search engines frown upon intentional abuse of the keyword system and will punish these sites accordingly. The big difference between normal copywriting and SEO copywriting is that it focuses not only on the viewers but it also weighs what sort of impact the writing will have on the search engines.

The most important aspect of SEO copywriting is knowing how to choose the right keywords and phrases to use within your copy. It is essential to focus on finding just the correct keywords to populate your webpage with just the right amount of keyword content. When you start writing your copy, include your targeted keywords through out its body, not just the beginning. Others believe that figure is more like five percent, but in reality both are just a guideline, there are no hard and fast rules set in stone. The real rule of thumb is to make sure that while you utilize keywords and phrase within your writing that you ensure your text is still read-able and stimulating to your site’s visitors. You won’t do your copy any favors by trying to shoehorn in keywords that make it jarring and unnatural. It is important to have a decent ratio of keywords in your copy, but do not let the overall quality of it suffer solely for the purpose of adding keywords. It is, of course, important to have enough information on your website so that all of the necessary sections of your site are filled with copy in order to have good SEO. Search engines often want to see text that is between 300 to 500 words on page to analyze the keyword relevance.

Finally, not all search engines deep scan your page, so it is very important to include each of your keywords in the opening paragraph so all the search engines will notice your page. Make sure that any links you have to pages deeper within your site are text-based as many engines will not read or follow image-based links.
